Rowan had been released from the hospital. She didn’t appear to be a danger to herself or others, so they had no reason to hold her. By no means was the Trans-Pacific Champion back to normal, but that couldn't be rushed.
Today, she sat in the medical area of the The Complex. Dr. Curtis Everill is examining her with Zander standing awkwardly on the other side of the room. This is probably the only time we’ve seen the Blackwood’s not glued to one another’s hips. He was doing his best to give his wife space, but it was killing him.
“I’m sorry Rowan, but I can’t clear you for you competition. You’re not fully healed and a match will only do more damage.”
The countess furrows her brow at Curtis and crosses her arms over her chest. If looks could kill.
“I’ll wrestle for you.” Zander, ever the gentleman, would happily further injure himself for Rowan.
Colton Carter, who was leaning against the door frame, scoffed. “This isn’t the Julian Cortez show anymore. If your wife is booked, she either wrestles or she forfeits.”
Zander narrowed his eyes and scowled at Colton. He wanted to punch him in the face but that wouldn’t help the situation. Instead, the two alpha males stared each other down.
Rowan jumped off the table, and smacked the clipboard out of Dr. Everill’s hand.
“I’m fucking fine!” She screamed before storming out of the room, shoulder-checking Colton with all her might as she passed him.

Zander gave his wife some time to decompress. It’s what the doctor had told him to do. To give her space. A while later, he found her sitting on the ground in a corridor. Her knees were pulled to her chest and she stared blankly ahead. The bearded beauty took a seat next to her, but not too close.
“We can go home if you want. It’s one match.”
“Is that what you think I should do?” She turned her head to the side slightly, staring at him with her big brown eyes.
“What do you want to do?” He asked. Kidnapping victims don’t get to make any decisions when they're being held captive. He was supposed to let her make all the decisions she wanted. The former Trans-Pacific Champion was willing to try anything to regain some sort of normalcy for them both.
Silence filled the space between them for a few moments. “I want to fight,” she said plainly. Zander nodded. He knew she would.
“Then you fight.”
“I’m scared. To lose.”
Zander lifted his hand, to softly brush the cheek of his wife. But instead it just hung awkwardly in the air between them both. Rowan still flinched at his touch and he was trying to respect her boundaries, even if it killed him. Instead, he balled his hand up and lowered it back down to his side. “You are the strongest person I know - you have nothing to be afraid of. When you put your mind to something, you always accomplish it.”
A small smile touched her lips. “But I’m hurt. I want to fight. I haven’t wrestled in over a month and I miss it. But,“ The redhead glanced down at her husband’s injured knee. She didn’t have to say it. He knew she was afraid to end up like him - to not be able to do what she loves the most. “Finn is vicious. His little friend tried to kill Sam’s baby and he didn’t hesitate to step inside the ring with Reece. He’s going to see my ribs, my shoulder like a target. He’s going to try and hurt me.”
“I will be there every step of the way, Ro. I won’t let him hurt you. Personally, I don't think you'll need my help. You defeated Dick without anyone's help. I was able to step into So-Cal World War and defeat Rumble and Paige with a jacked-up knee. And you're better than me. You are nearly undefeated, Ro. You have never been pinned, have never submitted and you have retained that Trans-Pacific Championship for over a hundred days! Your record is nearly flawless and I know that Finn won't change that. He couldn't put away Dick. You did. He couldn't put away Rumble. You did. You're going to go out there and you're going to put the final nail in his loser coffin. Because you are Rowan fucking Blackwood and no one scares you, my fearless bride."
She could see the pride in his eyes. He wasn't just saying it, he truly believed that his wife was perfection.
Rowan wanted to reach out and grab his hand, but that feeling of unease still hung in her stomache. After a few moments of silence, she spoke again. "Maybe Kei will come back and finish the job. He took out Elena and Aaron. Feels like Finn is next."
Zander couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
