July 8th, 2017 HAMPTON, VIRGINIA Noah Reigner and Brooklyn Kanojvic left the Loaded Dice Bar in downtown Hampton, Virginia. They visited other drinking establishments throughout the night - further discussing each other, careers, families and etcetera. The night ended at three am. After the last bar kicked them out. They paced themselves for the night. Feeling a buzz but not quite so drunk that stupid decisions were made. They ended up back at Brooklyn's apartment.
Noah awoke in her living room on her couch. The sun ripped through the sliding glass door that was to the right of where the couch was settled. Noah sat up, still in the same clothes he was in the night prior. He raked his hand through his hair, pushing it back into place before he grabbed his phone from off of the floor beside where his boots lay. Four missed calls, "Mom (2)", "Chloe", "Ethan". Two voicemails and over a dozen text messages. But what stood out was the time. Two-forty seven PM. "Fuck", Noah said under his breath. Flight missed.
He rubbed his eyes before he looked around, adjusting to the sight of something other than his home screen. Sketches, paintings and portraits decorate the living area and also what would be considered the dining area. He recalled during conversation last night, Brooklyn saying "I'm an artist. And when not working at the bar, I'm an apprentice tattoo artist." He focused on them, taking in and appreciating her work, not noticing the gorgeous brunette that slipped into the room quietly.
"Good morning." She said before sinking down onto the couch next to him. He turned his head, a smile crossing his face as his eyes found hers. "Afternoon, you mean." he responded. "Missed my flight, thanks to you." Jokingly. She smiled. "Too much partying." He nodded, turning away from her and standing up. He walked around the table in front of him, picking up a drawing as he did.
"You're quite talented." His eyes scanning the drawing in front of him. Her smile remained even as she adjusted herself on the couch. "Thank you. - What are you going to do about your flight?". Placing the sketch down, he turned to face her. "Catch the next one, I suppose.". She nodded a slow nod as if she were saying 'ah okay'. "Back to California, then?" - "No, was planning for Seattle for a couple of days then back to San Diego."
Silence fell between them. He was replying to messages. One standing out, "I'm going to rip them apart on Tuesday." Noah smirked at that before going to the next.
"Do you want company?" She said, cutting the silence. His eyes glanced up, looking at her. "What?" - "On your trip. I've been thinking of branching out a little. And i wouldn't mind tagging along with you." She said, leading him.
Sliding his phone into his pocket, he walked over to where his boots lay. "Sure. I'm okay with that." He said, slipping his boots back into his feet. He left them (very loosely, obviously) tied and sat back down on the couch. She smiled brightly, standing up. "I'll put together some stuff." Saying, before she turned around and made her way back into the bedroom.
July 12th, 2017 SEATTLE, WASHINGTON “Looks like you’re over Aryanna.” Chloe Reigner said, standing in front of Noah - passing him two iced coffees. Chloe’s little cafe wasn’t necessarily busy this morning, but a fair amount of people filled the establishment, including her - her two brothers and Brooklyn. Noah turned his head, looking over his shoulder after Chloe nodded in a certain direction. In that direction Ethan Reigner and Brooklyn sat at a table across from one another, looking to be in deep conversation. Noah turned back to face Chloe, reaching out and grabbing the beverages from the counter. “Time away from So Cal helped.”
Turning, he began to walk back to the table. Chloe moved from behind the counter, leaving Ciara Vincente to fill the position of cashier. Ciara did, however, keep an eye on Noah - a man she began to like before he took off to Virginia. Chloe hurried to Noah, now walking just behind him. She spoke loud enough for only him to hear. “Time away and this new girl, huh? I thought you and Ciara..” - “Ciara was nice, but I didn’t see it working out there. Besides it was too soon, then.” Noah said. He was heartbroken by Aryanna, and Chloe pushing Ciara onto him .. well, obviously it seemed forced to him. It took him taking over a month away from So-Cal, and going to Virginia to find another woman he actually wanted to spend time with. That’s not to say the Aryanna situation was under the bridge, yet. Slowing his pace, he looked over his shoulder to his sister. “Don’t bring Aryanna up, though.”
She nodded her compliance. Soon they would be at the table. Noah sat next to Brooklyn and Chloe sat next to Ethan. Brooklyn turned slightly to Noah, accepting the drink he sat in front of her. With a smile, she brought the straw to her crimson painted lips and took a drink. “Brooklyn was just telling me of the night you met.” Ethan chimed in, tearing Noah’s attention off of Brooklyn. “You guys painted the town red, she says. Bar hopping, drinking in celebration of your win out in Union.” Noah too took a sip of his drink, before nodding in agreement. “Yeah. Met her at a bar after the show. We got to talking, then traveled to another bar, and then another..” - “Ah, ha. And that’s why you missed the flight. Had mom worried you died or something.”
“Yeah, No. She was a mess.”. The guilt they were laying on was heavy. Brooklyn remained silent, her hazel eyes locking on Noah, reading his reaction. He had his head lowered, only very slightly nodding. “I know. I called immediately after I woke up. And she was the first visit when I got into town.” Lifting his head, he found Ethan and Chloe both staring at him. “So what’s the next plan for Noah Reigner? Back to wherever Union goes to next? San Diego?” Ethan asked. Noah shrugged. “I’m not sure Cortez would want to see me back in San Diego, not after him exiling me and…” - “Aryanna dumping you?” Chloe turned, hitting Ethan hard in the arm. Noah’s eyes narrowed on his brother, and Brooklyn just sank further into her seat, awkward situation for her, for sure. “No.” dick, Noah mumbled under his breath.
Chloe shook her head, turning around to face Noah. “Julian might not be there much longer.” - “What are you talking about?” Noah asked after taking another drink. “You need to pay more attention” Ethan spat at his younger brother. Noah had no reaction to that. Chloe leaned forward, placing her elbows and forearms on the table, one crossed on top of the other. “SoCal’s original owner is back. Julian’s putting the company on the line in a match. He has Matthias Black on his side now, and Gage - well he originally chose Ashtyn..” - “But?” Noah asked, sensing Chloe was leading to that. “But..” - “But Matthias’ pals interfered and broke Ashtyn’s leg. Now SoCal is in the hands of some twenty-year old who’s had fewer matches than you.” Ethan interjected.
“Julian’s control began to fall apart after he exiled you.” Chloe added. Noah remained silent, taking another drink from his iced coffee. “If I were you, Noah, I would go back. Talk to Gage and maybe see if there’s a spot available for you, should he resume control.” That lifted Noah’s attention from his drink. Ethan remained silent, while Chloe’s eyes find his - waiting for his reply. “I’m not going to beg him for a job, Chloe. But, I will go back to San Diego. If for any reason just to watch Julian get thrown out of the Ultraviolent Complex.” Noah turned his head to Brooklyn, who returned the look. “Want to see California?”
Brooklyn’s lips curled into a smile. “Of course I do.”. Noah returned her smile, “We’ll leave in a few days. We'll drive and take our time.”
July 24th, 2017 SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA They spent the last couple of days driving down the coast of California, stopping now and again for sight seeing and what have you. Spending this time together brought Noah and Brooklyn closer, as you could imagine. Sharing intimate stories and details about their lives. Of loves past, and future goals they wanted to achieve.
Now they're were a day away from So Cal World War and the two are parked in the parking lot of a local grab-and go store. Noah stood outside of his car, leaning against the trunk. A cigarette hung between his lips, the cherry at the end slowly burning. Lifting his left hand off of the trunk, he held the cigarette in place as he took a deep drag. He turned and opened the trunk of the car before removing the shirt he wore. Rolling it into a ball, he tossed it into the corner before grabbing another out of the duffel bag he brought with him. Just as he was putting the shirt on, Brooklyn came out of the store with a couple of shopping bags. She walked to the trunk meeting Noah. Smiling, she placed the bags inside of the trunk.
“Ready to go? We’re almost there, right?” She asked. Noah took the last drag from his cigarette before slamming the trunk closed and flicking the cigarette away. “Yeah…” he turned his head, spotting a sign across the street. “Just about.”. She watched him curiously as he dug into the pocket of his jeans, retrieving his cell phone. He walked across the street and stood in front of the sign that read - “WELCOME TO SAN DIEGO”. Stepping back, he snapped a photo of the sign. With a smirk, he crossed the road again and met Brooklyn by the car. “What did you do that for?”. He did some stuff quickly on his phone. Opening his social media app and posting the picture with the caption, “It’s been awhile…”.
“Just had to remind people I’m still around.” Locking his phone, he slipped it back into his pocket. With a smile to Brooklyn, he circled the car to the drivers side. Brooklyn followed suit and circled to the passenger's side. Both climbed into the car, and not seconds later, the ignition started. The car was placed into gear, and the tires peeled through the mix of cement and loose gravel.
