AUGUST 8TH, 2017 - ASYLUM XIII LIVE SHOW
For Gunnar Erikssen, his time in So-Cal Ultraviolent coming to a close was bittersweet. He was a former Ultraviolent Champion and would go down in history as one of the most dominant forces to ever step foot inside the ring for the company. His resume was filled with violence and blood, huge rivalries and one bitter feud with Riley Calix that had put both men on the map. Of course, Gunnar's career had also been riddled with scandal and injuries, and those were things he didn't mind leaving behind. In fact, he was favoring his surgically repaired leg as he limped out of the medical area. The steel cage match between himself and the very game Hailey Banks had been a lot more grueling than Gunnar had anticipated, but that was the nature of the game. Hailey was one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world and if somehow their paths ever crossed again, Gunnar knew better than to write the bubbly blond off as a joke.
"I guess that's it."
Philip Corvington III looked up at his client and sighed. He still hadn't come around to the fact Gunnar had agreed to go and compete for Viktor Swanssen's company Svensk Wrestling Syd. Surely everything Julian Cortez had put into place was null and void at this point. But Philip said nothing. It was his job to back his client no matter what decision he made, and Gunnar was notorious for making stupid decisions.
"Já. I wrestle Saturday for title."
Philip was well aware of the match and the fact the SWS Champion Sawyer Foxx was out indefinitely due to a violent attack.
"Are you even able to compete now? You can barely walk."
Philip wasn't doing anything but pointing out the obvious, but Gunnar brushed off his concerns. He had fought through worse before, and no one, not even Philip, knew what he'd been through in his lifetime. He'd never tell his story.
"Það verður allt í lagi. Not a fucking pussy."
Maisi Van't Hoff walked up to them before Philip could reply. Philip was surprised to see Gunnar's expression soften the moment the gorgeous blond appeared. Maisi slipped her arms around Gunnar's waist and stood on her tiptoes so she could kiss him.
"Are you okay?" Maisi's blue eyes were full of genuine concern and her voice was soft.
Gunnar nodded, but he didn't release her. His eyes lingered on hers and the exchange between the two caused Philip to take a step back. He hadn't spoken with Gunnar at all about Maisi, chalking it up to some kind of game Gunnar was playing with Aiden Van't Hoff. But now it was dawning on him that perhaps there was substance there.

JULY 30TH, 2017 - RUTH CHRIS STEAKHOUSE
Aiden Van't Hoff didn't think anything of it as he pulled his wife's chair out for her. Maisi took a seat at the table and sat her Louis Vuitton bag down in the seat next to her. Aiden sat down across from Maisi and neither spoke until the waitress came over to take their drink orders. Both of them ordered water. It had been months since the two of them had been together by themselves, and Aiden had specifically picked a public place so neither of them could cause a scene.
"So what's the purpose of this?" Maisi's voice was surprisingly neutral.
"I just want to clear the air between us and figure out what's next," Aiden finally replied. It was time to finally start making decisions. Aiden was sick of living a lie and trying to be someone he wasn't. Spending the last few months with Hailey had made him realize what he really wanted.
"What's next is Gunnar destroying Hailey," Maisi replied, but her voice wasn't snarky. She actually sounded tired. "And then hopefully both of you disappear."
"The match is bullshit," Aiden admitted. "I can't believe all this started because of some shitty bounty Trixie placed on Philip."
Maisi shrugged.
"Gunnar doesn't see the point in it either, but after next Tuesday he is done with So-Cal anyway. He plans to just overpower Hailey and beat her down, end the match early, and get on a plane. I'm surprised Cortez made it a cage match, honestly. Hailey was one of his darlings and he's forced her inside a cage with the most powerful and hardest hitter on the roster. Her speed isn't going to help her run when there's nowhere to go. I guess she could just climb out, but Gunnar has knocked out people bigger and stronger than Hailey. Like good luck with that."
"Hails can handle herself," Aiden replied, his voice defensive. "You can't knock someone out if you can catch them off-guard, right? Besides, she's defeated people bigger than that dumb fuck before."
"Yeah okay. Maybe a few years ago."
Aiden sighed.
"Look, I didn't ask you to dinner to discuss the match."
"Right. You want to talk. What's there to talk about unless you finally want to admit you're in love with Hailey."
"It's that obvious?"
