INT. THE HOME OF MILES LARSEN - SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - JULY 17TH, 2017
"The podcast we did with Gage definitely went over well. So many people have started Instagramming their own 'I'm With Tiffany' shirts. I can't wait for next week."
Tara Jacobs was currently floating on a raft shaped like a swan in Miles Larsen's massive pool. Since Baptized in Blood, the two of them had been thick as thieves, leaving several of their colleagues to question the true nature of their relationship. Both Miles and Tara were keeping mum, but honestly who would really be surprised? Everyone in So-Cal seemingly dated one another. It was worse than the WWE. Miles was also floating around in the pool, a pina-colada in his hand.
"So-Cal is going to be an entirely different company with Gage Landon back in charge. His hatred for Matthias Black is unprecedented. He really blamed Black for Maccario's death?"
"He really did. I remember the tribute show he put on for Joe. Gage schedule Matthias against Colton, and planned for Matthias to issue a public apology to Joe's family. Matthias no-showed, and Gage got really angry. He couldn't understand why Matthias had no remorse for what happened. Truth be told, Gage saw a bright future for Matthias until that incident. He really wanted to push him towards the Ultraviolent Championship. When you think about it, very few people can stand up the power and striking Matthias brings to the table. Back then, it was Gunnar Erikssen who was struggling to take out Matthias." Tara rolled her eyes underneath her sunglasses. She would hate Gunnar forever.
"And now we saw on Asylum that not even an opponent the size of Frost can dispose of Matthias Black," Miles mused.
"Exactly. When you factor in the experience and intelligence Matthias has, as well as the numbers advantage, he's close to unbeatable. Absolutely nothing has changed in that respect. Matthias is prime championship material and Gage was dying to get that belt on him. But no-showing? That's just not okay. Like after that, Gage made it his mission to force Matthias out of So-Cal, and really out of the California wrestling scene."
"It took him awhile to accomplish that."
"Like a couple of years or something, and that's because Matthias refused to be denied. It's in his DNA to win by any means necessary regardless of who his opponent is. He's conditioned so well and very few people have what it takes to wear him down. Jesse Munoz was an experienced, veteran wrestler when he faced Matthias for the Ultraviolent Championship. He was quicker than Matthias, way more agile, and could pull off any type of high-risk move you could think of. He was an artist in the ring. But no matter what Jesse did, Matthias had an answer. That's why Gage got desperate. That's why he called for the bell the first chance he could. That's why he fucked over Matthias and put the title on Jesse. And the aftermath of all that is why Jesse has never been the same wrestler."
Tara pushed her sunglasses up on her head. Miles had made his way towards her floaty.
"We really need Gage back in So-Cal, Miles. Tiffany is a breath of fresh air backstage and I just hope she realizes just how badly all of us need her to win."

INT. THE HOME OF JAKE AND BRYDON SILAS - ORANGE BEACH, ALABAMA - JULY 21ST, 2017
(introducing Looney Lane as Brydon Silas)
(introducing Looney Lane as Brydon Silas)
"What time does your flight leave?"
Jake Silas had his arm wrapped around his wife, Brydon. The entire Silas family, including Matthias, Hunter, and Hunter's mom Priscilla Moxley, were in the Silases backyard. The family had spent the day grilling out and playing in the pool, and overall it had just been a great day. Matthias had definitely enjoyed being back home and away from all the bullshit he had to deal with in his personal and professional life.
"We leave at around ten," Hunter replied and got to her feet. "Can't wait to get back to San Diego and prepare for a handicap match." Her voice was full of sarcasm. She turned to her mom. "You're still taking us to Pensacola, right?"
"Of course I am," Priscilla answered and got to her feet. She began gathering up dishes and cups to take inside. Brydon got up as well. "Let me help you with those," Brydon offered.
"I wish Zahra had come," Mischa sighed, flopping back in her lawn chair. The 17-year old had aspirations of being a pro-wrestler as soon as she graduated next May. Zahra and Hunter were her idols. "I miss her."
Matthias wasn't going to admit to anyone how badly he missed Zahra as well. He ruffled Mischa's hair. "Next visit, kiddo."
"We need to come to California," JJ decided. He had just gotten out of the pool and tossed his wet towel at his older sister. "I wanna see you wrestle in person."
Mischa tossed the towel back at her brother and sat up. "I'd love to see you versus Tiffany in person. Yeah, it's like totally a mismatch on paper but I'm sure one day I'll be in Tiffany's shoes and I NEED to see how she handles this match. Like there's nowhere to fly, nowhere to run."
"There's room to fall, though." JJ smirked.
Matthias almost smiled.
"So if you were Tiffany, what would you do?" Hunter asked, putting her future student on the spot.
Mischa thought for a moment. "I'd bring a weapon into the mix. Tiffany might not be as experienced, but she's not stupid. She knows the odds still won't be even but if she can use something to take Matty out at the knees, then she can ground him. Also, I would make sure to use my lack of size to my advantage. Tiffany can't run around, but she can leap over and duck under attacks. And if she manages to take out the legs, then Matty can't move around or use his strength."
No one said anything because in a lot ways Mischa was right.
"Mom said that Matt could be psychologically affected by what happened in his last scaffold match once he gets up there. Said he could have a flashback of Maccario plummeting to his death and just freeze up. If he freezes, Tiff could just push him off. Match over." JJ stifled a laugh.
"Dude, your mom once spent two years locked up in a mental ward. Fuck her," Hunter replied.
Jake cleared his throat but he didn't disagree. "Your mother does have her issues, son. But I love her anyway."
Even though he hadn't yet turned 16, JJ was a prick. "I already know why you keep crazy. They're more fun to fu-"
"Alright, enough," Jake cringed. "The fact is, we will be watching Matt compete from home."
Mischa and JJ made faces.
"You'll do great, man," Jake reassured Matthias.
Matthias and Hunter exchanged looks. No matter what happened on that scaffold at So-Cal World War, they had to make sure Matthias won. There was no way in hell Gage Landon could get So-Cal back. Their careers - as well as Zahra's - depended on it.
