MANILA UNITED CHAMPIONSHIP ● SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2010
mUc TUNAY CHAMPIONSHIP MAIN EVENT
"Rumble" Reyes was, without a doubt, the most dominating Tunay Champion that mUc had ever seen.
He was definitely the largest on the roster, and he used his size to demand attention within the ring. He got a hold of the belt, and wouldn't let it ago, demolishing anybody who tried to challenge him. The situation seemed rather hopeless of ridding Rumble of the belt. Really, it seemed that nobody would be ever to end his reign of tyranny.
That is, until Leon Ramos came back from injury seeking to regain the very championship he had lost to Rumble over a year ago. Leon may have been out with injury, but he looked to be in the best shape of his life. He moved like never before, and had clearly been training for this moment the entire time he had been away. Leon was a just and fair champion, a real crowd pleaser, taking time out for his beloved fans whenever he could. The mUc fanbase rallied behind Ramos, hoping to see their champion succeed in battle against the hated "Rumble" Reyes. In truth, it wasn't that Reyes was a menace, he just simply didn't care. He performed in the ring, and never showed emotion, always stoic. This gave him the appearance of being cold, and again, Rumble didn't care for his image. The only thing that mattered to him, was conquering his competition, and keeping his championship.
The match itself, was an absolute battle until the very end. mUc wasn't much for the ultraviolence scene, but boy could their competitors put on an amazing, and skillful match. Ramos, much shorter and speedier than Reyes, was a sharp contrast to the behemoth. There were several moments when it seemed that maybe Leon would slay the giant, only for Rumble to kick out again. Charging. Unrelenting.
Then, it all came crashing down. Well over an hour into their epic, Ramos tried to punch Reyes, only to be deflected at hit with a massive Bolo Chop. The shot sent Leon into a state of shock, it seemed. This allowed Rumble to knee him in the gut, lifting him up with ease. Rumble placed Leon onto his back like a ragdoll. With one quick motion, Rumble launched Ramos into the air, sending him flying. However, Rumble was done with this, he was ready to end it. So, he launched Ramos over the ropes and down to the ground below. Leon landed completely flat against the ground, unable to move. As Rumble stepped over the ropes, still he remained unmoved. That's when the referee noticed, Leon was unresponsive. He stepped in, calling for the bell.
The next was sort of a blur. Lots of yelling, lots of people coming from nowhere. Paramedics, officials, and Rumble stayed on the aapron, stoic as ever. The ref had long since given over the Tunay Championship, slinging it over Rumble's shoulder. So there he stood, title over shoulder, arms crossed, upon the aapron as Leon Ramos died below.
It was the same exact scene that had played over and over in his mind for weeks now. And would haunt his nightmares for years.
REGIONAL TRIAL COURT ● SEPTEMBER 26ST, 2010
QUAZON, CITY
Bruin Reyes stood on trial for the murder of Leon Ramos. Anyone who covered the story knew that it was an accident and would be ruled as such, but the Ramos Family was overcome with grief. They needed to seek justice somehow, moving forward with charges that nobody really thought would stick in the end. However, Reyes recounted the events on the stand, finishing up his last few words.
For a moment, the courtroom stood speechless, before Esmeralda Ramos could not take it any longer. In her emotional state, her grief got the better of her. She stood with, endless tears running down her face. She pointed to Rumble with such conviction.
"ikaw ay magsunog!"[You'll Burn]
The courtroom seemed to collectively gasp as Reyes simply starred at her, still stoic. Rumble's lawyer shouted something in lawyer speak, retorting, as the courtroom erupted for a second. Reyes didn't hear them, he only saw Esmeralda Ramos being rushed from the room. Tears still streaming down her face.
DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO ● JUNE 21ST, 2017
SAN DIEGO COURTHOUSE
"The family is willing to settle...but only if your client would be willing to meet with them."
Silence fell, as Annebelle turned to Rumble, unsure of how this would effect the giant before her.
"Would you...be willing to do that, Rumble?"
Bruin Reyes looked at his lawyer with the same stoic eyes he always had. Annabelle was a snakey lawyer that considered herself somewhat of an artist when it came to people. She could read most people within a few minutes, but never Rumble.
"If we can be done with this...then fine."
Behind those eyes, the last time he ever saw Esmeralda Ramos played through his mind. "YOU'LL BURN" she said. Not only did he seem to be walking into the fires, and then, he'd be walking with Miss Pyrotechnic Princess herself, Rowan Blackwood.
How fitting.
