LOCAL WRESTLING PROMOTION SUBMITS TO NEW LEADERSHIP
Julián Cortez Moves His Business North of the Border
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – So Cal Ultraviolent, a local wrestling promotion, has officially been purchased by Julián Cortez. Cortez took over ownership of the company early November and is ready to open doors to talent this week.
SCUV, a wrestling promotion that operates under hardcore (or no) rules, has been a staple in the San Diego area since 2012. The company’s use of dangerous matches and deadly weapons has equated to plenty of bloodshed and a cult following by local residents.
“I have owned el Cartel de Lucha Libre for years in Mexico and I look forward to expanding my skills to a completely different style of wrestling,” said Cortez, new owner of SCUV. “I want to assure all fans that the brutal, violent nature of SCUV will remain intact and I will do everything I can to make it bloodier and more gruesome than before.”
SCUV will host a bi-weekly show, Asylum, on Tuesday evenings at the Ultraviolent Complex. Asylum will be airing on local channel Fox 5 for the first time ever, as well as airing on the company’s website, so-calultraviolent.com. SCUV’s infamous King of California tournament will kick off their first show. This will be the first year that a King will go uncrowned, with the tournament finishing in early 2017.
All previous athletes have been offered contracts from Cortez. So far Jack Owyns and Reece Crosslin, both previous winners of the King of California tournament, will be staying on with the company. Cortez has also claimed to be scouting the independent scene to bring in some fresh blood. Fans are excited to see a new mix of athletes on the SCUV roster.
Asylum airs at 10pm PST on Fox 5 and so-calultraviolent.com. Visit their website for tickets, dates and cards for all upcoming shows.
