July 26th, 2017 - Sharps Memorial Hospital
Rowan Blackwood is asleep in her hospital bed. Her right arm is in a sling, cuts and bruises cover her face and body and her ribs are wrapped. Sitting next to her in a shitty hospital chair was her devoted husband. He was also sleeping, his body wrapped in bandages to cover the burns he suffered last night. The Trans-Pacific Championship is laid on the hospital bed next to his wife.
The redhead's eyes flicker slightly and suddenly she screams “NO!” loudly and her eyes jolt open. Panic overcomes her and she sits up, frantically looking around the room. The sudden movement sends shockwaves of pain through her body. She grabs her ribs. Her scream woke Zander. He reached out and grabbed his wife’s hand, to reassure her that she was safe.
Rowan instinctively ripped her hand away from her husband's grasp.
They both stared at each other with pain in their eyes. The idea of anyone touching her made her skin crawl and she hated herself for it. Her torture wounds were still raw - mentally and physically. And she watched as it broke a tiny piece of Zander’s heart. Her husband put on a brave face, but she could see his pain.

Ultraviolent Podcast - July 26th, 2017
TODD FRANCELLO “I'm still high off the fact that Zander lifted a C4-lined board and threw it at Rumble Reyes! We used to call Rumble the strongest man in So-Cal, but I’m pretty sure Zander took that crown. He is a machine and it’s clear now that he can overpower anyone on the roster. Rowan is unstoppable with him at her side!”
DYLAN WRIGHT “Rowan has to face a former Ultraviolent contender next week. Finn and Rowan both have great endurance but she is going to have to burn twice the energy to avoid Finn's striking. And who knows what state she will even be in? The girl was kidnapped for almost a month and probably tortured. Mentally and physically, she won’t be 100%.”
TODD FRANCELLO “Finn won’t be either. His wife is in a freakin' coma! He lost to Dick due to Rumble's distraction. If a dying wife isn't a distraction, I don't know what is!”
DYLAN WRIGHT “Are you kidding me? Finn went on to fight two days later in two matches in Texas, while his wife was unconscious. And he won one of them. Finn is one of the most focused members of the roster. This business is his number one priority.”
TODD FRANCELLO (scoffing) “Wow, great husband. His wife is dying and he’s wrestling? That’s the difference between him and Zander. The Blackwood’s would die for each other and that should scare Finn. Zander has a hundred pounds on Finn - just like Dick did. And guess what? Finn couldn't overcome that size difference. Zander is going to be glued to his recently-rescued wife. This will basically be a handicapped match. Finn is outnumbered and out matched.”
DYLAN WRIGHT “Zander is as much a distraction as a help to Rowan. Finn proved he likes to go after family - like Samantha. If he takes out Zander's already destroyed knee, Rowan will snap. She'll lose focus and that will be Finn's time to capitalize on the distraught redhead."
TODD FRANCELLO “Pfft! Are you forgetting that Rowan defeated Rumble AND Dick when Finn couldn’t? And Rowan beat Dick without the help of Zander. Simple logic, Dylan! Rowan used her speed to dodge attacks by Dick and her flawless technique to hit him with Crash and Burn before ending the bigger man. Inside that ring, Rowan's smart and ruthless. She knows what she needs to do to win. She utilized Zander and a sledgehammer to defeat Rumble. Finn? He never touches weapons. He should consider it if he wants the tiniest chance this week.”

“She won’t even let me touch her!” Zander is whisper-yelling at the doctor. They stand in the hallway just outside her room. He didn’t want her to hear.
“Your wife has been through a major trauma. Physically, other than a dislocated shoulder and broken ribs, she’s going to be fine. But mentally? She hasn’t even told us what exactly happened to her. Kidnapping victims can take time to get back to their normal lives and readjust.”
Hearing the words ‘kidnapping victim’ made Zander want to scream. What did her captors do to her? How cruel was Alex Covington?
“How long? How long until I can hold my wife again?” He hadn't been able to hold his wife for twenty-nine days. If you knew Zowan, you knew this was absolute torture. Zander, of course, blamed himself. He should have found her sooner, should have saved her from any pain.
“Only time will tell. I’m very sorry Mr. Blackwood.” He placed a hand on Zander’s shoulder consolingly and then walked down the hallway.
The bearded beauty crumpled against the wall, running a hand through his hair.
Would Rowan ever be herself again or had he lost his wife forever?
