August 1st, 2017 “Noah, you're a strange case.”
That voice belonged to Gage Landon, the new-owner of So-Cal Ultraviolent. Resuming the position he vacated when he sold to Julian Cortez, Gage has been busy looking over the contracts that Julian put in place. Now he finds himself sitting face-to-face with Noah Reigner. Colton Carter stands behind Gage's chair, eyeing the So-Cal athlete, sizing him up because - old habits die hard, amirite?
Gage's eyes glance over the top of the contract page to Noah, eyebrow arched. Not because of what he's read, because Noah sits, leaned back casually as if he had no worry in the world. “On one hand, you were Julian's first appointed soldier and dated his daughter. You flew his colors prouder than anyone. On the other, he had his team jump you and his daughter dumped you. You haven't been seen in San Diego since, until now. So where your loyalties lie is beyond me. Rumor is you're still in cahoots with Rumble..”
“Look. If you brought me here to beg for my job - it's not going to happen” - “For someone who's contract could be terminated, you are quite defiant right now.” Colton chimed in. “No, I'm not looking for you to beg for your job. This is all just a preliminary interview to cut out the riff-raff that Julian hired.” Noah took exception to that. His hand gripped the chair he sat in and his eyes narrowed. “Riff-raff?” Gage looked up, and nodded. “Mhm.”
“Listen, kid.” Colton spoke up again. “We booked you in a tag match on Asylum. You and Linc Coyne versus Reece Crosslin and Aliyah Turner. You do well, and we'll consider keeping you around.”
“Reece and I have already beaten each other through the streets of San Diego - literally. I took everything the champ had and still here I stand, and I took him further than anyone else ever has. You want to see if I do well? You can go fuck yourse--” - “ANYWAY!” Gage interrupts. “We're well aware of what you have done. But we want to see what you can do.” - “What I can do is get up and walk out the door. But I’ll play your game, Gage. I’ll once again climb into the ring with Crosslin. I exploited his weaknesses before, and had things gone a little differently, we may not even be looking at him as Ultraviolent Champion.”
“Sounds like the ideology and beliefs of a loser”, Colton said. This got Noah fired up. He shot up out of his chair, enough to cause it to tip over. Gage also stands, a look of worry on his face. He tried to get something out, but stuttered.. Noah didn’t. “If I’m so much of a loser, fire me. And unless you’re gonna’ do that, I suggest you get out of my way or I’ll treat you like every other original that has come my way…” Noah stood his ground. Colton stood his. “G-g-g-uys c’mooonn..”, Gage pleaded. Noah smirked and pushed past Colton, exiting the office..
August 4th, 2017 “So how'd the meeting the other day go, you never told me.” Brooklyn asked. She sat on the bleachers in ‘the Plant’. Noah sat beside her, wrapping his wrists. “They put me in a tag match. And without saying so, they made it clear my job is on the line.” Noah's voice was cold. “Oh”, Brooklyn replied simply. Then silence fell between the two. It would be Brooklyn that broke the silence.
“Do you think you can win?” She asked, which caused Noah to turn his head and look at her. “The two they’ve put me against are collectively as strong as a toddler and hit like one too, in comparison to myself and Linc. Reece knows just how hard I can throw. They have us in speed, I’ll give them that - but speed was never a factor before for any of my matches or theirs.” - “Correct me if I’m wrong, but using speed can avoid strikes - right?” Noah only smirked. “True, but if you don’t have technique to fall back on after you’ve taken us by surprise and eluded us, then it’s a missed opportunity.”
Brooklyn fell silent. “Speed and agility can only get you so far. They have experience on their side, and that may have been a direct link to what has brought them this far in the first place. But, for being so experienced in the Ultraviolent environment, they can't come up with an idea between them on what to do in the environment. Unlike my partner who hung one of them just a week ago.”
Brooklyn’s eyes shot up in horror. “Hung?”. Noah ripped the tape from the roll, flattening it on his wrist. “It was sanctioned. But. Any lengths necessary to win this week, so I may have to borrow the San Diego Hangman’s noose Tuesday night.”
Brooklyn opened her mouth to say something, but Noah stood. He stepped off the bleachers, making his way to the training ring.
